Lord, teach us to pray!

11:01 Luke “One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."” (NIV)

Jesus prayed a lot! He was persistent and patient in His prayers. The disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray. How about you? Do you know how to pray… or could you use a quick refresher while recalling the Lord’s Prayer. That is what we will be doing over the next several days. Our intent is to bring your closer to God’s Word and more frequent in Bible reading, Bible study, and prayer. Just like the disciples… we want Him to teach us to pray… (and we truly need it in times like these.)

Please pass along this verse to family, friends, and co-workers in His kingdom. Ask them where and when they learned to pray. Ask them if their prayers have changed much through the years. Pay attention to how they respond. Like many of you, in my younger years, I found myself working harder and trying to do more each day… but it was at the expense of taking time to spend with God in prayer. Don’t make the mistake of limiting or ignoring your personal time with God. He is ready ALL the time. Pause for prayer OFTEN! Best moments spent on any day. Next, Take Time For God’s Word© each day or as you pause to pray or at 11:01 am or pm. You may want to save the next several verses together in one Reminder or Meeting appointment in your calendar application. These are the verses for the Lord’s Prayer. You likely know it already… or do you? So often we say the words BUT we don’t really focus on the meaning of those same words. IF we did, we would pray that prayer ALL THE TIME. Prayer is powerful. It allows you to tap into the very power of God. Don’t miss any of these verses or the stories that go with them. Be glad. Pray boldly. Pray without ceasing. You will be amazed at what He has planned for you!

Our prayers today focus on those organizations that promote and are dedicated to social causes which address the common good of our society. It may be Reading programs for preschoolers. It may be protecting our environment or planting trees. It may be blood drives or food drives or other efforts to show gratitude for the blessings that we receive. It gives you a chance to meet with people of many beliefs or no religious affiliations at all. Let your light shine. Show them in word and deed what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Pray! Stay blessed in ALL that you do. Pass it on to others through your example of being a prayer warrior… let them know that you pray for them!
