No rear-view mirror needed!

9:62 Luke “Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."” (NIV)

Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem for the last time. He knew it. He was resolved to finish His purpose on earth. Others wanted to join the group as disciples…except they all had excuses of things they needed to do first. They felt other things were a higher priority than following Jesus. Does that sound like you? Do other things rank higher than Jesus in your life, too? We don’t drive forward by focusing on the rear-view mirror in life. Set your eyes (and mind) on Him and His purpose for your life. Then go for it with great passion and commitment… He is with you all the way home!

Please give this verse to family and close Christian friends. Ask if they have ever seen a freshly plowed field and wondered how they get the rows so straight. Ask if they use the windshield more than the rearview mirror when they drive. See if they get the comparison. Just as Jesus was fixed upon His return to Jerusalem, we need to be focused on living in Him and for Him. If something is taking your focus off of Jesus, address it in prayer to God to remove it. Stay close to His Word. Stay in fellowship with other Christian family and friends. Be of great service to Him each day. Next, Take Time For God’s Word© daily or as you see a newly plowed or planted field. (I can’t suggest to link this to 9:62 as our clocks don’t have that number… and God is not bound by time, anyway). Just snap a photo of this verse card on your phone. That way you will have it and you can file it in the Favorite Verses album. It is always a good reminder for us to keep our focus on God. There are SO MANY distractions and things that creep into our lives and drain our time and our very souls. Avoid them. Get rid of them. Block them. We need time with God, and we need to keep time available for God to work in all areas of our lives. Be of great service to Him as you spread His love to those around you.

Each month for the past nearly 5 years, we have been praying for food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens. In this pandemic, these are truly the food life-lines for SO MANY families who need extra support. So, I am asking that you pray for organizations like Feeding America (Washington, DC) and hundreds of other vital groups making this their priority NOW! Please support them with a donation OR with canned goods that you drop off. We can all do something to help out our friends and neighbors. THANK YOU!! WELL DONE!! Stay well as you may go out. Stay blessed. Pass it on to anyone who needs to find answers to what is most important in life… you can share the Good News!
