Help us…we’re going to drown!

8:24 Luke “The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.“ (NIV)

Jesus and His disciples were crossing a lake when strong winds created high waves and their boat was flooding. Jesus was asleep but the disciples grew ever more fearful. They finally woke up Jesus with their anxious cries, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” Jesus saw their fear. He rebuked the winds and told the seas to become calm again. AND… it happened immediately. He is more powerful than any storm which you may have going on in your life right now. Reach out to Him in prayer. Let His love conquer any fears which you may have. Trust in Him!

Please send along this verse to anyone you know who may be experiencing difficult times. Ask if they have ever been in a situation of nearly drowning. Ask how they felt at that moment and what their first thoughts were at that time. Listen to how they reply. While I am an average swimmer, there was a moment when snorkeling one time that caused a bit of panic where I could not catch my breath. It was scary. I did get help and made it back to shore. Let others know that Jesus can save them. Don’t let them continue to be fearful in these dark times. Always remember to Take Time For God’s Word© each day or as you see people struggling right now or at 8:24 am or pm. You may want to take a photo of this verse card and save it to your Albums, especially to your Favorite Verses album. This way you are able to review and recall this verse and other verses often. It is especially helpful when you are in a line waiting someplace. Use that time to be reminded of God’s Word. It will be time well spent. Be blessed to bring His Word to mind frequently. It will make every day go better… after all, it is THE Good News!

We want to offer ongoing prayers to all the Sunday School teachers and leaders from our various churches and fellowship groups. While most churches are now closed during this pandemic… these Sunday School teachers are getting a break from their normal routines. They still need our prayers. They provide such a great set of lessons, songs, crafts, and Bible verses. They touch these children with heartfelt love for the Lord and a hope for the children to grow in their love for Jesus. Thank them. Support them. Let them know that you pray for them regularly. THANK YOU if you are (or have been) a Sunday School teacher or leader. You are a blessing. Pass it on to all people who seem to be drowning in sins or in situations which may be overwhelming to them.
