Let your light shine for Jesus!

8:16 Luke “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.“ (NIV)

Jesus explained to His disciples key life-lessons. He poses some examples which they would find illogical in the physical world (like hiding a light under a bed) and then shows how they apply just as well to the spiritual world. In other passages, Jesus refers to Himself as the Light of the World. That is why we are to let His light shine through us so that it reflects the love which He intends for all people. In our dark and uncertain world, bring the light of His love to those that you meet.

Please give this verse to any friends or family that you feel may be in a dark place at this time. Ask if they still keep candles and matches in a drawer, just in case the lights go out. Ask if they have a flashlight instead (and if the batteries in it are still good). We want them to be thinking about the need for light so that this verse and Jesus as the Light will make more sense to them. Share from your background about dark times that may have happened in your past. Let them know how Jesus love helped you. Let them know that you are just trying to help them. Let them know how much they mean to you. Then, Take Time For God’s Word© often each day or as you turn on a light switch or at 8:16 am or pm. This may be a verse card to print out as a larger picture. Then put it on the refrigerator… I’m sure there are extra magnets or clips to hold up one more item. It will then be visible to you and your family… and anyone who visits your house (after we stop our social-distancing). It will remind you that anyone who enters should be able to see the light… the light of Jesus shining in and through you. Let that be our goal each day. This little light of mine…I'm going to let it shine... let it shine… let it shine… let it shine.

Let us all pray for our pastors, ministers, and lay leaders in our churches and our fellowship groups. For many of us, this has been the longest time EVER that we have not been in our churches. We see the videos or live streams from our churches, but we are not there with the family of God worshipping together. I miss that greatly! So do our ministers. SO, reach out to them. Let them know that we are praying for them. Ask if there is anything that you can do for them… or other church members. We are family… let us love each other like family. Be that blessing to all that you touch. Pass on the love of Christ by shining brightly for Him and to give Him the glory for what He has done for you!
