Leave everything else behind!

5:11 Luke “So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.” (NIV)

Peter and the other fishermen knew that this Jesus was someone that they must follow. They left EVERYTHING and began to follow Him. That is sacrifice. That is commitment. That is being a follower of Jesus. They KNEW it was the right decision. They KNEW He could care for them… even if they did not know HOW. That is faith… trusting in God for all aspects of your life… now and eternally!

PLEASE dedicate this verse to friends and co-workers in His kingdom. Ask if they have ever left everything behind to start again in life. Ask what it felt like to make such a big commitment. For many of us, our commitment to Jesus was just as honest and real, even if we did not leave everything behind us. It was our hearts that we gave to Jesus and He then changed us from within. He is still changing us and bringing us into a closer relationship with Him. Take Time For God’s Word© daily or as you leave your home (in this time of shelter-in-place) or at 5:11 am or pm. This may be a verse card that you print out and carry with you OR that you put under a magnet on your refrigerator (where you will see it often). Know that our faith takes commitment. It takes sacrifice. It takes courage. AND, He is with us each step of the way… showing us the path that we should take to be effective in giving His love to others. Step out in faith… do His will… serve others gladly… give Him the praise… and continue to do this, until He comes again!

We offer up our thanks and praise for all the Christian day schools and pre-schools around the country. Many of these are closed for now due to COVID-19… others stayed open to care for the children of medical and critical workers during this time of ‘social distancing’ and ‘shelter in place’ orders. Support them. Encourage them. Let them know that you are praying for them. Be that blessing as you stay blessed. Pass it on to others even if it means leaving everything behind to follow Him… it will be all worth it in the end!
