Going out in a blazing glory?

3:17 Daniel “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty's hand.“ (NIV)

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were brought before King Nebuchadnezzar because they would not bow before his idol. He was furious with them. They would not give in. They stated their faith in God. Live or die, they said they trusted in God’s plan for them. They would pay the price. Are you willing to pay the price… to live faithfully for Him? It may mean telling others. It may mean giving up bad habits. It may mean finding new friends. Will you choose to live for Him… no matter what?

Ask if it was a life-or-death decision. Pay attention to how they respond. These three young men had a chance to witness to their faith before a powerful king. They did not shrink back from that even though they would be put to death for their faith. Share the Good News about Jesus. It is a faith worth dying for. You may want to add these from Daniel to your growing list. Copy these into a Reminder on your phone and set it for 3:16pm. It is a powerful story about faith. It is a simple one to recall. While the names of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego may be hard to recall… their faithfulness and the results are easy to remember. As you experience times of rejection or even persecution for your faith, think of this account of great faith. God will be with you through whatever you go through… and He will see you through it all.

We lift up in prayer the various organizations which promote the common good and which benefit many in society. This would include blood banks, community clinics, meal delivery services, elderly advocate programs, and so many more. We are grateful that these help and support those in need. Help them if you can. Volunteer where you can. It is a great way to let the love of Christ show through you. They will see His love in action. You will be a blessing to those that you serve in this way. Pass it on to all those you meet and those who need to meet Jesus as the one who can save them.
