Eat right…Testing God’s plans…

1:12 Daniel “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink." (NIV)

Daniel was to be fed from the king’s table… rich foods, sweet foods, fattening foods, strong wines… but that was not what would be good for him. He knew that. He tested God’s plans. He wanted to show that good food… wholesome foods… with water would be a better diet to promote good health. If you are like me, it can be hard to make good food choices. Yet, when I do, I notice that I feel better and more alert. We are called to make good choices in all areas of our lives. Try to be a Daniel and to choose well in all areas… food, leisure activities, time for God, time in prayer, and time spent serving / helping others. You will be surprised at the blessings you will see if you give it a ten-day testand a lifetime of benefits if you continue.

Copy this blog or the link to it to pass along this verse to friends that you know who want to live fully each day. Ask if they eat fruits and vegetables each day. Ask if they drink lots of water during the day. Two simple questions… two things that are harder to follow for many of us. The Bible has many references to food choices and provisions. We need it to live. We often need less than what we usually consume each day. Some verses remind us of how we should live… this is one of them. Remember to Take Time For God’s Word© often each day or as you take a drink of water today and at 1:12 am or pm. Yes… D-I-E-T is a four-letter word… but not a bad one. It really means the type of foods that we choose to eat each day. Many of us view it as restricting us… others view it as a way to be purposeful in what they consume. Some try “The Daniel Plan”. Some try intermittent fasting. There are many ways to eat well to live well. Because we ALL eat 3 (or more) times each day, use those times to recall God’s Word. Be filled with nourishing spiritual food as you fuel your body for His work and His service each day. Live to the glory of God.

Our prayers continue to extend to all the refugee camps and organizations looking to help displaced refuges find new homes and new countries. The crisis is extreme in many parts of the middle east and in Africa. Millions of people are displaced by war and rebels. They struggle daily for food and shelter and clean water. We pray for Exodus World Services (Park Ridge, IL) for their great work in screening and placing families in communities where they can start new lives. Help where you can. Volunteer to help the families get resettled. Be a mentor… be a friend to them. Let them see Christ working through you. Stay blessed… not stressed! Pass it on to those in need and through wise choices in all that God has given to you.
