Be wise in how you respond to Jesus…

12:34 Mark “When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.” (NIV)

“Well spoken” was the comment of a scribe who was listening to Jesus responses to the religious leaders. The man then summarized what Jesus had said. He spoke with understanding. He spoke with respect and insight. Jesus could see this in Him. He can see that in us as well. He sees our heart and our mind. He wants us to experience the ‘kingdom of God’ with Him in heaven… AND right here… right now. We can fellowship with Him in prayer anytime. When the Bible says, ‘pray without ceasing’, it means that it should be an open and ongoing communication with… thanks… praise… petitions for others… help… guidance… forgiveness… and SO MUCH MORE! Keep His Word in your heart. Think of it often. Give Him the glory!

Take a moment to extend this verse to friends and family… and anyone else you can think of. Ask if they had to summarize the two commandments that Jesus shared (12:30-31), what would they say. Ask if that is how they live each day with those commandments in mind. Our church had the mission statement: “Love God. Love Others. Serve the World.” It was a great recap. Easy to learn. Easy to remember. Great mission for us to share. Let others know that God will be with them now…and forever. Encourage them to Take Time For God’s Word© daily or think of God or loving others and at 12:34 am or pm. I greatly enjoy the verses that have a 1-2-3-4 pattern to them (12:34). I will someday create a ‘help’ list of those great verses so that when you ever see the numbers 1-2-3-4, that you will recall one or more of those verses. Until then, please print out this verse card (and some extras) and keep them handy to share with others. As you take them out of our pocket or purse, review it one more time. It should be an encouragement that you are part of His kingdom. What a blessed place to be. Invite others, too!

Each month we emphasize prayers for all the judges and courts at all levels of county, state, and federal levels. We need to offer our support and appreciation to the women and men who have chosen this profession to see that justice, fairness, and even mercy are given to those who appear before them. It is not an easy job. Yet, it is so critical to the ongoing functions of our society. Let them know that you pray for them. They need to know that. Then serve if called upon for jury duty or to appear as a witness, if needed. Let His love show in ALL that you do. Pass it on to those who are both near… and far from God’s kingdom… as Christ died for ALL and for all to come to know Him.
