Love your neighbor…as yourself!

12:31 Mark “The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.” (NIV)

Jesus gave more than was expected… in His response… and with His life. He put ‘love your neighbor’ as second only to loving God… first and foremost. By doing this, He showed the religious leaders that simply loving God without great love for others doesn’t fulfill what God wants from us. We are to take that love for God and put it into action… actions which others can see and which they can benefit from. Some people love in word… but not in deeds. We need to do both. Share His Word with those who need it most… AND find ways to meet some of their physical needs as well… food, clothing, shelter, medical attention, friendship, etc. He will give you the strength and guidance to share more than you think you are able… remember, God’s resources are unlimited! Act like you know it and that you believe it!!

Please provide this added verse to the one you sent yesterday… they will enjoy hearing from you again. Ask if they had to list their second favorite commandment, what would that one be. Ask if they know the names of their next-door neighbors. See how they answer. Tell them about any actions you are taking to pass on His love. It will make more sense to them when they see how to make it practical and tactical. Let them know that you pray for them. They need to know how much you care for them. Keep sharing… we never know God’s timing to touch hearts and lives. Next, please Take Time For God’s Word© throughout each day or as you stop to greet a neighbor and at 12:31 am or pm. If you set up an Alarm for verse 12:30 (yesterday’s verse), then go ahead and add this one to it. The two verses really go together as the two greatest commandments that Jesus shared. When that Alarm rings, check the time and see if you can recall both verses. Soon, you will be able to recite them easily. Then, think of ways that you can share those verses with others AND what actions you can take to show His love in action. It will be a blessing… but you will never know how much unless you share it. Be love to others!

We pray for those people who have been impacted by extreme weather related or natural disasters. We especially pray for the people of Australia and the massive fires and heat that they are dealing with down there. We also pray for the people of Puerto Rico who are now dealing with earthquake cleanup while still recovering from the Hurricane from two years ago. We cannot fully know all that these people are going through. Yet, we can provide donations to help support them AND we can surround them with prayers. We know that God will see them through. Pray that they will remain strong in the faith and in His hope. Be that special blessing to them. Pass it on by demonstrating love to your neighbors… next door or around the world… as ALL people need the love of Christ!
