Child-like but not childish…

10:14 Mark “When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.“ “ (NIV)

The disciples often handled crowd-control as they tried to keep people from pressing too closely to Jesus. Sometimes, they held back people that Jesus wanted to have come to Him. Jesus wanted the children to be able to come to Him. He welcomed them. He saw their child-like faith and their trust in Him. He wanted the disciples (and us) to know that we are to protect and help these little ones to find Jesus. He wants us all to have that same child-like faith… simple …honest … genuine. May that be your faith as we celebrate the wonder of Christmas and the birth of Jesus. Enjoy a blessed Christmas!

Please pass along this verse to family and friends… near or far away. Ask if the recall their excitement for Christmas when they were young children. Ask if they still have that same excitement now or, have they gown-up too much. Christmas is such a wonderful time. People seem to be more caring, generous, sharing, and thankful at this time of year. The message of God’s gift to us all through the birth of Jesus sets such a great example. It shows what love looks like. It gives us an idea of what giving should be. It reminds us of hope. It expresses itself in so many wonderful hymns and Christmas songs. Enjoy the Christmas story again this year. Then, continue to Take Time For God’s Word© each new day and whenever you see children or at 10:14 am or pm as you recall this verse and the child-like faith that we need. Set a Reminder on your phone for 10:14 am on Wednesdays with the title, “Let the little children come to me,”. It should be enough to help you to recall the whole verse. More importantly, it will remind you to continue to put your faith and trust in Jesus… not just at Christmas but every day. It also lets us know that we are to be good teachers and mentors to our children about the love of Jesus shown at Christmas and throughout His life… and through His death and resurrection. That is the greatest gift of all! Don’t miss it for the world… literally.

Take a moment to pray for all the Christians attending any of the other public or private colleges and universities around the country. They are often challenged by faculty and other students about their faith in Jesus. They are bullied by those who don’t want to be reminded about commandments or church or religion or anything that would remind them of their sins. Encourage the Christians to stand firm. Support them in anyway that you can. Let them know that you are praying for them. Just to know that others are thinking of them is such a blessing. Do that for them. Stay blessed in all things. Pass it on to the little children and to those who are young in faith. Every day we are one day closer to eternity… we need to use our time wisely in His service… until He comes again!
