Are you the salt of the earth?

9:50 Mark “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other." (NIV)

Jesus asks some tough questions in earlier verses. If your hand…foot…eye… offends you… get rid of it. It is better to be handicapped than to be taken to places of darkness and suffering. It says that if there is some part of you that continues to draw you into sin… then that is the part that needs to be controlled (or removed) in order to be preserved and serve in His kingdom. Even if you are considered salt (which is a good thing), if you are losing that quality, are you living effectively and serving at the best levels possible. Challenging questions. All show an accountability that we have as being part of the family of God. Serve Him intently and intensely each day.

Please pass along this verse to family and friends. Ask if they like to add salt to their food. Ask why they do that, sometimes without even tasting the food. While many have heard the verses about the hand…foot… or eye ‘offending you’, not as many may recall the verses about the salt that we are to be in His service. We often recall the more negative imagery rather than the more positive examples. Share this with others to keep the Good News as something they are talking about and wanting to hear more about. Then Take Time For God’s Word© often each day and whenever you or others use salt on any food or at 9:50 am or pm as you recall this verse and remain passionate about what you believe. I like verses which have an object as a part of the lesson. That way, whenever I see salt on a table or store shelf, it will remind me of this verse and others which talk about salt and its usefulness. We are to have that same usefulness in our service to others. Check with friends and family to see if they see it clearly in your life. Adjust accordingly and wisely.

Our prayers continue for all the physicians, doctors, nurses, PA’s, lab technicians, etc. that are devoted to caring for the sick and injured among us. We value their skills and training and dedication and compassion which they bring to their profession and to us who need those services. Their day is filled with the challenges and hurts that people bring to them. They are there to help. Many do so as part of their calling in service to God in using their talents. Thank them. Tell them that you are praying for them. Be a blessing to them. Stay well and stay blessed. Pass it on as salt to bring out great value to all who will listen to you as you share the Good News of Jesus Christ and His salvation to all who will hear and believe!
