Is the Welcome mat out?

9:37 Mark “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me." (NIV)

How do you make people feel welcome? Jesus wants to make sure that His followers know that He values little children and that we should welcome them in our midst. Are they greeted that way in your church or fellowship group? Do you have a ‘children’s sermon’ to help them understand the message? Is there a focus on Sunday School and an outreach during Vacation Bible School? We are preparing the next generation(s) of Christ followers… we need to do that on purpose and with a passion!

Please forward this verse to others in your church or community to emphasize the outreach to children. Ask if they attended Sunday School as a child. Ask if they were made to feel welcome and special when they came to church. We sometimes try to isolate the children away for the worship service…for less noise and commotion. Instead, we need to make them feel like they have an important part in the service… singing… going to the front for a children’s message… etc. If we welcome the kids, they will often bring their parents, too! Please Take Time For God’s Word© often each day when you see children or at 9:37 am or pm as you think of this verse and welcoming Jesus into our lives. You may be able to recall this verse with the words, “Whoever welcomes…”. Have it as an Action Item on your phone for 9:37am. When it goes off each morning, recall the verse and the welcoming attitude that we should always have. Put out the Welcome Mat from your heart and people will see His genuine love flow through you! All are welcome!!

Please focus prayers on the hospice and Alzheimer’s or Memory Care facilities, patients, and staff around the country. That population is growing. The needs will only get more dramatic in the next few years. We need loving and caring people to work in these settings… helping families go through some of the most emotionally draining and spiritually challenging times in their lives. Be a blessing to those families. Offer to help…whatever they need. Pray with them and for them. Stay in touch so they don’t feel isolated. Be there for them and be a blessing to them. Pass it on to young and old alike…and everyone in between. We ALL need to know the love of Jesus in our lives…always!
