Spend quiet time with Jesus…get some rest…

6:31 Mark “…he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."” (NIV)

The disciples return after their time spreading the message of repentance. They are excited. They are exhausted. Jesus sees that they need rest. He calls them to experience a quiet time… a time with Him… and to rest. We are in a society of ‘busyness’… always active on the Internet… socially… professionally… and we NEED rest. Not just sleep… but to be at peace with ourselves and with those around us and especially with those who are closest to us. Take the time… make the time… to spend that quiet time with Jesus every day. It will be refreshing. It will be relaxing. It will be rejuvenating. He truly make all things new. Start today!

Please extend this verse to family, friends, and co-workers in His kingdom. Ask if they have set up any quiet times in their schedules every day. Ask if they actually take those quiet times and how they feel when they do that. Let them know about the quiet times that you take to know Jesus more fully and to find your peace with Him. Share the Good News and let them know that you pray for them. Prayer is SO powerful… use it often and for the sake of His Kingdom. Then Take Time For God’s Word© each day in your quiet time and as you find that you need rest or at 6:31 am or pm as you recall this verse and the disciples need for rest. Set this verse up as a Reminder on your phone for 6:31 pm with a title, “Come with me…get some rest”. It will come at a good time for you to take a moment of quiet time with Jesus… to thank Him… to praise Him… to be in His presence and to enjoy that brief fellowship with our Lord. It will give you perspective on whatever you have been doing… or been thinking. Remember that He is with you always… now and forever!

We earnestly pray for all the food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens which are spread across our country. These are a true life-line for those in need of food… for families… or just for their own daily needs. These groups and organizations show compassion daily in their distribution of food and support for people in great need of help. You can be that help. You can be that support… volunteer. Show your support by donating your time and your food to these efforts. Lives will be touched by your generous gifts. You make a difference in the lives of people with each act of love and kindness that you show. Stay blessed in all that you do. Pass it on compassionately each day and stop to get some rest in Him along the way.
