Hometown crowds are tough to please…

6:04 Mark “Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home."” (NIV)

Jesus returns to His hometown and begins to preach in the synagogue. People wondered where He got such deep insights and understandings. Afterall, He was the son of Mary and Joseph… a brother to other siblings… a carpenter… a person of humble beginnings. They found it hard to believe that He could do so well and be more than they could comprehend. Don’t let that stop you. Share the Good News. Show them what Jesus can do in you.

Please pass along this verse to your family, friends, and hometown acquaintances. Ask if they knew of famous people from your hometown. Ask if they ever thought that those people showed any potential to become famous. Share with them the Good News that we can all change for the better when we accept Jesus into our lives. Let them know that His love changes everything… especially our hearts. Remember to Take Time For God’s Word© often each day and as you see famous people from humble beginnings or at 6:04 pm as you may consider this verse and life of Jesus. We all have things in our past that we regret or that we wish we would have done differently. Some people don’t want to go back home because they are reminded of that past and it is painful. We can see that even Jesus could not quickly win over some people who only saw Him as that ‘carpenter’s son’ and not as the Messiah. Use this verse to realize that we can become new creations by trusting in what Jesus did on the cross for us… to cleanse us from our sins. Start fresh in trusting Jesus.

We pray for all of the adoption agencies and organizations, especially Evangelical Child and Family Agency (ECFA) (Wheaton, IL). What a great blessing they have been through the years as they provide a wide range of services to help adoptive families and those giving up their child for adoption. Their efforts in counseling and care provide for a supportive transition for all people. Encourage any adoptive families that you may know. Help them through the process. Be caring friends or family to them during this important part of their lives. Be blessed to be a blessing to those in need. Pass it on to people who have changed and who are on the path to see Jesus as Savior and as Friend.
