Are there storms in your life?

4:39 Mark “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (ESV)

Jesus and the disciples used boats to cross the lake. A storm comes up quickly. It is a violent storm. High waves cover the boat. The disciples fear for their lives. Jesus is sleeping. They wake Him. He commands the wind and waves. They obey His Words. There is a peace and a calm immediately. We know He has the power. What holds you back from asking for His help? Let Him handle the storms in your life. He can restore peace and calm. Trust Him!

Please pass along this verse to friends that you know are going through a storm in their lives. Ask if they believe that God can handle storms. Ask if they are willing to let God handle the storm in their life. See how they respond. If they are desperate, they may be willing to let God take it on. Some will be too proud to admit that there is a storm, even if they are drowning in it. Offer to pray with them and for them. Use those prayers to follow-up later to see how they are doing. Continue to Take Time For God’s Word© often each day and as you see storm clouds forming, or at 4:39 pm as you consider this verse and the power of Jesus to calm the storm. Set an Action Item on your phone for 4:39 pm on Thursdays with the title, “4:39 Mark ‘Peace, Be Still’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Think about the storms in your life…at home… at work… among your friends… even among people at your church. Lift up that situation to the Lord. Seek His power to diffuse the storm and to bring peace and calm. Keep focused on it. Be persistent in prayer. Believe that He can make all things new. Then watch Him act on your behalf.

Our prayers extend to cover all the Christians at our public colleges and universities. This may be the faculty, staff, and students at these institutions. They are often caught in the storm of public debate or criticism. People think that higher education means that God is no longer important. They challenge those who still believe. These Christians need your support and encouragement. They need to know that you stand with them. Be that blessing to them. Pass it on to those who are caught in the storms of life… share with them the life-saver (and life Savior) that we have found in Jesus.
