“Come, follow me”…Jesus called to them…

1:17 Mark “Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." (NIV)

When Jesus went out to call His disciples, He chose people with a variety of backgrounds and skills. He saw what they had the potential to become if they would only trust in Him and follow in the path that He would lead them. He is calling each of us to do the same. We are to ‘fish for people’ by sharing with them the love and grace and forgiveness which Jesus has shared with us. These are exciting times of change in our world. Let us help to make the change for good as people come to know Jesus as savior and as friend.

Please give this verse to as many people as you can. Ask if they were called by Jesus to ‘Come, follow me’…would they have done as the disciples did. Ask what is stopping them from doing that even today. Share with them the impact that knowing Jesus has had on your life. Let them know that following Jesus is simple… just not always easy. Just believe in Him and ask Him into your life. It will never be the same. Continue to Take Time For God’s Word© as you see anyone fishing or at 1:17 pm and think of this verse and our ability to ‘fish for people’. For favorite verses, I encourage you to print out these verse cards. Print several copies and keep them in your pocket or purse. When you see them there, it will help you to remember the verse. It will also help you to have them handy to pass out to friends or family. Just say, “I saw this verse today and thought it would be one you may like to have.” You never know the impact that it will have on their life… but God knows, and He will help you daily to ‘fish for people’ by sharing the Good News with them. They will be eternally grateful that you did!

Our prayers go out to all the Christian led causes and ministry organizations who are putting into action the love of Christ and the care for His people. We continue to highlight the We Raise Foundation (Itasca, IL) for their ongoing efforts to support and mentor start-up ministries and missions. Their funding, tools and extensive support helps these new groups to grow and to become self-sustaining as they show the love of Christ in all that they do. Support them. Help similar organizations in your communities. Let them know that you are praying for them. Volunteer to help if you are able. Be blessed to be a blessing to others. Pass it on as an invitation for people to “Come, follow me”… just as Jesus said.

Just to repeat a note of thanks and praise for the life of Rev. Charles S. Muller, Sr. (Roselle, IL) who passed away on October 30, 2019. He was a great mentor and encourager to me. He was the inspiration to move forward with the ministry of "Take Time For God's Word". He was greatly loved, and He will be missed here on earth but there is rejoicing in heaven as He is welcomed home!

If you want to follow this ministry on Facebook, you will notice that we post this blog material each morning at about 5am with a 'verse card' photo to help you recall the verse in the future. We also repost the verse of the day at the time of the verse (e.g. 1:17pm). This short reminder is meant to help you to anchor in the verse and to “Take Time For God’s Word” later in the day. Join us on Facebook.com/taketimeforgodsword/ each day. Stay blessed!
