Draw near to God…best place ever!

4:08 James “Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." (NIV)

The bumper sticker read, “If you don’t feel close to God, guess who moved?” Simple statement. Very true. God is there…waiting. He waits for our invitation… for Him to come into our lives…to stay. Then, when we do that, He becomes closer than anyone else could be. He is in our heart…He is in our mind…He is leading and guiding us through the toughest times of life. That is what we want. That is what we need. We need His Word to be a part of everything that we do… and we do it all for His glory and honor and praise. When Jesus is knocking at the door to your heart, open it gladly and quickly so that He can be with you…now AND forever!

Please commend this verse to friends who need to be closer to God. Ask if they miss loved ones who have been away for a long time. Ask how good it is to embrace them and to spend time with them in-person. That is what God wants. He wants to be in close, constant communications with us. Where the Bible says, ‘Pray continually.’ (1 Thess. 5:17), it means that we are always in contact with God. That’s the desire of His heart… please make that the desire of your heart, as well. Then, Take Time For God’s Word© to keep His Word in your heart and mind or when you see 4:08 am/ pm, recall this verse and offer a prayer of thanksgiving to Him. As much as I like phone calls or texting with relatives and friends, it is not the same as being with them. I love to see their smiles. I love to hear their laughter. I am glad to be there to comfort their tears. You can only do those things effectively when you are close to them. Print out this verse card and keep it close to your line of sight each day. When you see it, be glad that God is there… close to you. It will make every day seem more worthwhile to know that is the kind of God that you have… one who loves to be close to you!

We pray for Christians at all our public colleges and universities whether they are students, faculty, or staff there. We pray that they will have the courage to express their beliefs and convictions about what God’s Word says. As society tries to become more accommodating to other religions and philosophies, our institutions of higher education tend to become more critical and contemptuous of Christians because they believe in one God as the true God. They try to prove that He is not relevant in modern society. Now, more than ever, we need to defend our faith and affirm our belief in God. Support these Christians. Let them know that you are praying earnestly for them. Be a strong voice for the Good News. Pass it on with boldness because we know that God stands with us each day!
