What motivates you to ask?

4:03 James “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." (NIV)

‘I asked but I didn’t receive’…say a lot of people. Yet, when we look at what they asked for and the motives behind it, it was clearly NOT something that would help others and bring glory to God. They asked with selfish reasons. And that is something that God chooses to not answer. It is for our own good. We will NEVER get our heart’s desire from things. We can only get it through our relationship with Christ and our alignment with the will of God. So, keep praying… keep asking… keep asking with the right reasons… and keep believing that He will answer your prayers. He will give you the desires of your heart because you follow after His own heart.

Please forward this along to people that you care about. Ask if they track the things that they ask for from God. Ask if they see answers to those prayers. Remind them that God’s timetable for answering isn’t the same as ours when we ask. Share with them that we need to be honest about the motives for the things we ask. We still need to trust God’s sovereignty and perfect wisdom. He knows best…for all of us. Please Take Time For God’s Word© to stay close to His will for you and at 4:03 am/ pm or as you consider what next to ask of God, then recall this verse. When we had moved recently, I was anxious to put up a large bulletin board (the kind with push pins into cork). I STILL enjoy seeing great verses pinned there. I read them often. I recall where I saw that verse and why it was important enough to be pinned there. When you make the verses personal to you… they become easier to recall. Verses about prayer and about asking God to help us are VERY personal. Be sure to remember that God loves you and that He wants the best for ALL of us. Therefore, not all answers can be only to your benefit. u> His are always the right ones.

We again pray for all the doctors, nurses, PA’s, lab technicians, etc. who provide us with care and skilled treatments. I am personally very grateful to the many doctors and staff who have treated me and my wife through the years. I know that we are enjoying better health and less pain because of such care. They have been a blessing to us and so many others. Let them know that you pray for them. Thank them when you can. Be a blessing to them. Pass it on through earnest prayers for others and with thanksgiving for answers to prayers that we have yet to pray.
