Got needs…Ask God!

4:02 James “You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God." (NIV)

Wants and needs. They are not the same. Our needs are pretty basic but not everyone has even enough of those. So for the very poor, their wants and their needs may have a lot of overlap. For most of the rest of us… we tend to focus most of our attention on our wants. We see others who have those things and we get jealous and we covet them. We pout when we cannot have them. All the while, God is blessing us with an abundance of what meets our needs. We don’t even bother to share from that abundance to meet the needs of others. Sound familiar? In reality, we do not have because we do not ask God. He wants to provide for us. He wants us to share with others. Follow His plan. It is WAY better than what you are thinking of even in your wildest dreams!

Copy this link or this blog post to make this verse available to those on your contacts list. Ask if they have everything that they need (…need, not want). Ask what is missing from their life and find out if they have asked God for it. Listen closely to how they answer. The older that I get, the less that I want for myself. I have lots of stuff already and it takes time to find it, use it, store it, repair it, insure it, etc. Instead, I ask that my needs be fulfilled AND that I find ways to help meet the needs of others. It is a great way to live! Next, Take Time For God’s Word© at a variety of times each day and at 4:02am/ pm or whenever you take time to pray to God, then think of this verse and ask for your needs to be supplied. I like Reminders. Once they are set up on my phone, I can do other things and it always rings at the right time… not always a convenient time… but still the right time. So, set this one for 4:02pm…copy the full verse into the Reminder. One pastor commented that if you are not un-comfortable each day, then you are probably not relying on God enough. He wants to move us out of our comfort-zone. He wants us to meet new people… learn new verses… develop new skills…ask for big, bold things…. AND none of those are things that we are comfortable doing. That means we depend on God…and He will be there with us and for us always!

We offer up our prayers for all the hospitals and clinics around the country. We recently needed the services of our local hospitals. They were there for us and they provided great care for all our needs. We are grateful for the ER doctors, nurses, and staff. We were glad to get the treatments needed and to be home again. We thanked them many times. Please do the same whenever you can. Let them know that we do pray for them. They were a blessing to us…we need to be blessing them, too. Pass it on to those in need AND remember to ask boldly for the needs of others… God answers prayers!
