Let your mouth be praiseworthy!

3:10 James “Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be." (NIV)

While we have freedom of speech, we seem to be creating a ‘new’ glossary of terms which cannot be said out loud OR they will be called ‘hate speech’. YET, we allow TV shows and movies to used foul language and cursing God’s Name as if that is ‘the norm’. We need to tell them that is NOT ‘normal’ or acceptable. God’s name…Jesus’ name… and how we use them are VERY important to us (and to God!). Let us have clean lips and prayers and praise on our lips at all times. Thank God for that!!

PLEASE send this verse to those friends or family who need to be reminded of their swearing or slang. Ask why they bring God’s name into their swearing. Ask if that makes it more meaningful OR if they are just forgetful of ALL God has done for them. That may provoke a response. Let it. We should be standing up for the name of God and the name of Jesus. People need to know when those improper uses are offensive to us. Then tell them about His love for them. Continue to Take Time For God’s Word© each day and at 3:10 am/ pm or as you swearing then recall this verse and offer your praise instead. If you save this verse card as a photo, you can put it in an album of Key Verses and you can print copies to share with others. Then you can use them yourself either on your electronic media or by viewing the printed version. AND, with the printed copies you can share them with others… especially those who need a wider selection of words to use… particularly those which are not cursing words. You already know that if they use that kind of language, then they may respond negatively when you challenge them about it. It may be that they gave up on God long ago… but you can remind them that He has not given up on them. Be bold in sharing the Gospel but be protective of those who lash out against Christ’s followers. Stay safe as you proclaim the Good News!

We continue to pray for all of the Sunday School teachers and helpers. THANK YOU! You are a blessing! Just a quick true story, “My dad owned a gas station and farmers, truckers, etc. would stop in to chat with whoever was there. One of our local pastors was having his car serviced. Someone let out a long set of expletives only to turn to see the pastor standing there. The man said, “Oh, sorry pastor. I bet you don’t hear those words very often.” The pastor replied, “I know all the words… I just choose not to use them”. The conversation cleaned up really quickly. Make it your choice to use words of love and praise. Stay blessed. Pass it one with kind words even if others speak harsh words to you.
