Listening is good…do what it says!

1:22 James “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (NIV)

Christ’s teachings were clear. If people didn’t understand, He would explain it to them. The parables were easy to follow. His requests got attention and action. And His words in the Great Commission (‘Go…make disciples…baptize them’ Matt 28:19-20) has changed the world and is still changing the hearts and minds of those who will accept His invitation to seek salvation. That’s where we come in. We know His Word. We love what He has done for us. NOW, we must put that love into action…we must DO what it says. Follow His example and let His love change your world and the people you know around you!

You can send the link to this verse to family, friends, or co-workers in His kingdom. Ask if they have heard a great message… got really motivated… and then just did nothing to make it happen. Ask how that made them feel and if they ever got back on track to do what was called for in the speech or sermon. Share with them examples from your own life. If you don’t have any, I’m sure I could give you several from my life. Let them know that we want all people to know Jesus and to receive His forgiveness and salvation. We do it because of His great love for us. Then, Take Time For God’s Word© daily and at 1:22 am/ pm or as you hear a compelling speech, then consider our verse and do what it says to do. This may be a verse that you place into the voice recorder on your phone. Find the app… press record…repeat the verse and the reference number…repeat it 3-4 times. It will only take a minute. Then periodically play it back. It is good to hear our own voice and to hear God’s Word as others would hear it from us. It will make it memorable. AND, it will make it easy to play for others if they missed the verse today. We don’t want ANYONE to miss out on the Good News of Jesus Christ!

Our prayers continue for all the prisoners, guards, staff at the prisons, families of the convicts, families of the victims, and more. Jesus often mentioned that we are to visit those in prison. We know that Paul wrote most of his letters to the churches from his prison cell in Rome. They need our help. Do what you can. I know one couple in a downstate prison community who house the families who come to see the person in prison. It is their way to show love to that family and to help them to encourage the one still behind bars. We can all do something. Stay blessed in ALL that you do. Pass it on by being true to His Word AND by doing just what it says to do!
