Do you doubt what you ask for?

1:06 James “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (NIV)

We learned yesterday that we need to have the courage to ASK. Then, we also must believe… not just a little but with our whole heart and soul. This verse describes what happens when we doubt what we ask for… we are bounced back and forth…will He… won’t He…can He… should He… etc. God asks that our faith be made strong in Him and that we ask with that full amount of faith. Be strong in your faith and watch what God can do!

PLEASE extend this verse to friends and family. Ask how they ask for things from others. Ask if they expect to receive what they have asked for and why. Listen to their responses. Let them know abut prayers that you have made in faith and what was the outcome. Some prayers take a long time to get an answer. That is part of God’s plan to develop perseverance and deeper faith. Don’t give up. Keep praying. Then, Take Time For God’s Word© many times each day and at 1:06 am/ pm or as you find your faith being tested, then think of this verse and do not doubt what you have asked for. I recall reading this verse as a child and I wondered who could have faith strong enough to not doubt. I recall the image of a boat being tossed about on the sea…and coming from a small town in land-locked central Iowa, that took quite a lot of imagination at the time. Through the years, each time I see the verse, I understand more and more about that absolute belief in God and in knowing that He can do ALL things that He has promised. You may want to print out this verse card and review it from time-to-time OR pass it along to a friend who needs to have a ‘faith-lift’ today.

At this point in our monthly prayer cycle, we pray for any number of Christian led causes and their impacts around the world. We pray for the We Raise foundation (Itasca, IL) and their commitment to help grow new Christian led startups through the beginning phases and into fully supported and impactful groups who are making a difference for the kingdom of God. It is just another example of how Christian groups work together to help each other and to focus on specific areas to have the greatest impact for the work of the Lord. Support them if you can. Help out similar groups in your area of the country (or around the world). Stay blessed to be that blessing. Pass it on by asking for great things from God…KNOWING that He can do ALL things… then praise Him for all that He provides!
