The verse that leads into this one says, “In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,” (5:03 1 John). John wants to prepare people for the challenges that lie ahead. He wants to deepen their faith. He wants them to know that through God, we will be victorious. We need that same encouragement in our time and place. That is why these verses still speak to our hearts. They tell a truth that is timeless…that God is with us and in Him we have the final victory!
Copy this blog or the link to this post to convey this verse to family, friends, and co-workers in His kingdom. Ask if they feel that God’s commands are not burdensome. Ask why they feel that way (it digs deeper no matter what their answer was). Pay close attention to how they responded. Share from your own experiences. Let them know that through our faith we can even overcome all the challenges that the world gives us. Be an overcomer through Him. Always Take Time For God’s Word© during each day and at 5:04 am/ pm or when you think of ‘the world’, then recall this verse. If you are a morning person (I am, but my wife, not so much), this is a great Reminder at 5:04 am. It could be your Alarm time or just a time to associate with this verse AND with the word ‘overcome’. You are an ‘overcomer’ because of your faith. It is a great attitude to start every day. Our prayers go out for all of the people who are dealing with one of many natural disasters like Hurricane Dorian, extreme heat conditions, localized flooding, tornadoes, and more. We do not know why these may happen when and where they do. Yet, we do know that we are called to help those who are less fortunate than we are. Each of these events gives us another chance to express our faith in God and to share with those who have needs for even the most basic food, shelter, clothes, water, etc. Do what you can to help these people. It is part of our way in showing how we can overcome this world’s perils. Be blessed by being a blessing. Pass it on as an overcomer and through the faith which God is building within you!
