John writes many verses about the relationship between God and His people. I would encourage you to read the 4th chapter of 1st John. Then I would ask that you focus on the seven words in this verse…”We love because he first loved us.” We get our truest understanding of love based on what God has done for us. All of our human love pales in comparison. Yet, that is the love which we have within us, thanks to what God has done for us through Christ. Pass on that great love to others freely… and know that it will have an impact into eternity.
Please route this verse to all of your friends and family. Ask them how they learned to love others. Ask if that behavior came naturally or if it was taught to them by family members. Listen to how they describe it. Let them know about God’s love for you. Let them know how that love was shown on the cross. Remind them that such love is available to all who would believe. Please also Take Time For God’s Word© each day and at 4:19 am/ pm and when you say ‘I love you’ to someone else, then recall this verse and know of God’s love for you. I use my phone frequently for reminders and action items but some people use personal assistants or virtual assistants like Siri, Alexa, or Google to set those reminders. You can just say, “Alexa, set a Reminder for 4:19 pm everyday with the title, ‘We love because He first loved us…1 John 4:19’ “. Then, each day that Reminder will be queued up by Alexa (or whichever digital assistant that you used). We often have WAY more technology than we know what to use it for… this is a practical use AND it helps to keep you close to God’s Word each day. Try it out!
We expand our prayers for today to include all the Christians across all of our colleges and universities. This may include the faculty, staff, students, etc. Too often, those who pursue advanced academic goals do so by ignoring or rejecting the religious truths which they have been taught in their youth. We want to support fellow Christians who stand up for the name of Jesus even when it is not popular or welcomed in so many places of higher education. Let them know that you pray for them. Be ready to stand with them when needed. Stay blessed in all that you do. Pass on His love joyfully and with a grateful heart!
