Summaries are good. They recap details in ways that are easy to understand and even easier to remember. They must be brief. They must be factual. They should be memorable. And that is what we have in this verse. A capsulized sentence that is the essence of what God has commanded of His followers. It really is just two things but in this order: (1) believe in the name of Jesus, and (2) love one another. If you just take the action words, it is ‘believe’ and ‘love’… easy to remember… hard to do sometimes. That is why we continue to read His Word. That is why we fellowship with other believers. That is why we remain constant in prayer. It is not always easy to be a follower of Christ… but the rewards will last forever!
PLEASE send along this verse to friends anywhere and everywhere. Ask if they can define what they believe in most using 10 words or less. Ask if they actually live out what they believe every day. Listen to their responses. Share with them what you believe and how that belief in Jesus changes everything. Let your words be supported by your actions each day. Then, Take Time For God’s Word(c) daily and at 3:23 am/ pm when you hear the word ‘believe’, then thank God that He sent Jesus to rescue us. You may want to save this verse card on your phone in that favorite album of Key Bible verses. Just a quick glance at the card and you will be reminded of the verse. It is a good way to keep your beliefs summarized. It is an easy way to share those beliefs with others. Pass it on!
We again pray for all of those people who are in hospice care or in Alzheimer’s care units. We pray for those caring for them and for their family and friends. We know the pain in seeing loved ones going through such challenges. You want to help. You want to do things for them. Yet, your biggest gifts to them are your prayers and just being there with them…letting them know how much you love them. In the end, it is love which people value most in life. Share His love with them. Be a blessing through your time spent with them. Continue to pass on what you believe and how much you love one another…always…and forever.
