Break away from idol worship!

115:04 Psalm "Their idols are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands.“ (NLT)

Idol worship happens in more than just pagan religions. It happens whenever we are attracted to or attached to anyone or anything above our love for God. It may be a car…a lifestyle… a bank account… a stock portfolio…or even an addiction. The Psalm writer states in other verses the abilities of idols…’they have eyes but can’t see’…’they have a nose but can’t smell’…’they have a mouth that can’t speak’…’they have feet but can’t walk’. Yet, they do have an attraction which becomes hard to break. Let go of ALL things that keep you from a close relationship with God. He is ALL that you need. He will provide all that is needed… now and forever.

PLEASE send this verse to everyone that you know…it affects them too. Ask them what is their most prized possession. Ask how long it took for them to achieve or to acquire it. Remind them that we are love people and use things…not the other way around. Let them know that our highest prize is our relationship with God. Everything else is just stuff to maintain. Next, Take Time For God’s Word© often each day and as you see an idol or anything that may become an idol, then do you best to remember this verse as “115:04” and focus you praise upon God’s great blessings. You may want to print our this verse card and put it by anything that is taking too much of your time and attention. It may not be an idol to you yet…but don’t take the chance on it. Be reminded often about how easy it is to let other priorities edge out our time and our attention to God. Then, begin to remove those items which are of less interest to you. Let your praise always go to the God…our God…both now and for eternity.

Our focused prayers are for all of the soup kitchens and food banks/ food pantries in our communities and towns. What a life-saver they are for people who may be out-of-work OR who are working but cannot make enough to support their families. Summers are especially hard as kids are not getting the added food support that they normally get when they are in school. Also, September is “Hunger Action Month” in cooperation with Feeding America (Chicago, IL). Throughout the month, people are encouraged to wear ‘orange colors’ to help others to be visually reminded about the needs to share our food donations with those in need. But, you can give now AND throughout September to make sure those in need are well fed. THANK YOU for your gifts and your commitment to this! Stay blessed. Pass it on to anyone who may be fooled into worshipping idols.
