Keep God as Number 1 in your life!

81:09 Psalm “You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me.” (NIV)

If I asked you to track your time for a day, would you be surprised at how you spent it? Sleep (7-8 hrs)… work/school (6-8 hrs )… meals (2-3 hrs)… personal needs… (1-2 hrs)… TV/ hobbies (2-4 hrs )… family/ friends (2-3 hrs)… God (??) It seems that we have time for everything else, except for God. We treat our hobbies or favorite TV shows with more attention than we give to God. Yet, we can change. We can keep God as our highest priority. We can (and will) Take Time For God’s Word(c) throughout each day. When He is first, the other priorities seem to find their proper place. Try it. Live it. Enjoy it…totally!!

We ask you to forward this verse to friends or family or co-workers or anyone else you can think of. Ask what is their number one priority each day. Ask how often they are able to fit God into their schedule. Listen carefully to their answer. Remind them that putting other things as more important than God is really making them an alternate god… something that they prioritize higher than our true God. It will make them think. It will help them gain perspective. Go for it. Remember to Take Time For God’s Word© multiple times each day as you see items which could become gods to others, and recall this verse as “81:09” and keep God as your highest priority in life. Even if you don’t like math problems, this could be a way to recall this verse. Use 8+1=9 (81:9) OR 81= 9 squared ((81:9). OR set a Reminder on your phone at 8:19 pm with the title, ‘Psalm 81:9 You shall have no foreign god…’ I know some are thinking, ‘I don’t worship idols’ yet we do make other things in our lives to be more important than our relationship with God. Keep Him first! He gave His son to die for you… that’s how much He loved you!

Today, add an extra prayer for individual missionaries that you know… name them in your prayers. They may be serving around the world… or down the street. You don’t need to venture far away to find a mission field where people need to hear the Gospel of Jesus. You don’t need to preach to them… just be a friend and show them the love of Christ in all that you do and say. Ask God to open their hearts to hear the Good News. Pass it on to those who have yet to meet their Savior. They will thank you…forever!
