What did your ancestors leave for you?

79:08 Psalm “Do not hold us guilty for the sins of our ancestors! Let your compassion quickly meet our needs, for we are on the brink of despair.” (NLT)

Some of us have traced our ancestry back multiple generations as a way to find out where we came from and how we got here to America. We often find some ‘interesting’ (or even ‘questionable’) relatives in our family tree. No matter what they did, you are not responsible for their actions or the consequences. So, don’t let the past overshadow the future that God has planned for you. It will be awesome. He only wants the best life for you. Seek His plans for you and trust that His compassion will be with you each and every day. He will keep you from despair! Trust in Him!

Make it a point to give our verse to your close family and friends. Ask if they have done any DNA tests to find our more about their ancestry. Ask if any of the results surprised them (or their family). Let them know that we are ALL part of the family of God. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. We are free to live our best life in His will. Always Take Time For God’s Word© daily as you think of any of your ancestors, then remember this verse as “79:08” and be thankful for all of the sacrifices and heritage they have passed on to you. My heritage is from Norway. We have traced back a few generations. We have even met a few of the distant relatives. We have also traveled back there to see what the country (and the people) are like. It has been a great heritage. Yet, I have an even better one within the family of God… brothers and sisters around the world…millions upon millions of them. I am humbled and honored to be part of that family. I can’t wait to be in heaven to meet the rest of the family!!

Please pray for all of the early responder organizations (like the Red Cross) who are first to arrive in devastating circumstances and who do wonderful things to assist people pick up the pieces (literally) of their lives. What a great service they are to anyone in need. With all of the unexpected Spring weather and tornadoes, there have been MANY places to serve. Help where you can. Donate if you can. Be there when you can as a volunteer. Stay blessed in ALL things. Pass it on without the burden of guilt from our ancestors… live as a new creation in Christ!
