How do you treat the poor?

72:02 Psalm “Help him judge your people in the right way; let the poor always be treated fairly.” (NLT)

King David wanted to be a good king and to be fair to his people. He would often ask God for help and guidance in that area. We could use that same kind of help, regardless of the positions which we hold in our jobs or in our lives. Think about your actions towards others. If you could watch them unfold, would those actions be something to be pleased with… or ashamed of? This is especially true of the poor. We tend to avoid them… to look down on them… and even to think that we must be better than they are. God expects that His people will be the ones to have compassion on the poor and to help them. Let that be our mission… treat others in a right way and treat the poor fairly.

You can provide this verse to all of your family, friends and co-workers in His kingdom. Ask if their spouse or kids were asked if they treated others fairly, what would be their response. Ask what they have done recently to reach out and to help the poor around them. Tell them about what that means to us as we serve Christ daily. Faithfully Take Time For God’s Word© each day as you see poor people, then recall this verse as “72:02” and thank God for helping you to treat people fairly. In our monthly prayer list, we list several charity organizations or types of organizations which help the poor and needy. It is to highlight the fact that there are MANY different ways and options to use as we reach out to the needy. Plan out which one (or ones) that you can support. Be generous with your gifts and your time to assist them. Take action. Get involved. Put His love into your plans each day!

Our focused prayers for today are for all of the mission programs and projects which our youth will support during their summer vacations from school. Many churches have work/ witness projects for their youth to participate in each summer. It may be doing repairs on homes. It may be teaching Bible School lessons or crafts. It may be other forms of work or of witnessing. These are great ways to get our youth involved and to get them to see the real impact that they can have on people’s lives. It can be life-changing for them. They get to see how to treat the poor and how that helps to build them up in faith. Be a blessing. Pass it on repeatedly as you treat people in a right way and always fairly.
