God has taught you well!

71:17 Psalm “Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.” (NIV)

If we asked, “Who was your favorite teacher?”, you would likely have one or several names which quickly come to mind. These were people who made a difference in your life. They took the time to work with you. They took the time to listen to you. They wanted the best for you and gave their best in teaching you. You will remember them always… yet, have you ever told them that? Make the effort. Call them. Email them. Reach out. As this is Teacher Appreciation Week, give them (belated) appreciation. AND, continue to thank God for ALL of His instruction as He guides us through life.

You can direct this verse to all of those friends on social media and on email lists. Ask them if they had a favorite teacher. Ask what made that teacher so special in their lives. Share with them all that God is teaching you as you continue to learn from His Word. Next, Take Time For God’s Word© often each day as you see a teacher, recall this verse as “71:17” and give thanks to God for His wonderful teachings. I get the joy of driving my grand-daughters to school in the mornings. Each day, they take turns reading the ‘verse of the day’ on these verse cards. Each day I ask them, “what does this mean?” We get a few minutes to discuss the verse and how it applies to us. It is one way that I hope that I am teaching them to grow closer to God. Try it. It is fun to share those with kids or grandkids. It may just become one of their favorite memories about you. Go for it!

This day we pray for all of those organizations that provide support for refugees around the world. We focus prayers on Exodus World Services (Park Ridge, IL) and their tireless work in helping to place and support refugees with support from local churches to help get these families established. Friends from church are always excited to tell of their experiences in helping at Exodus World Services. They tell of the families they have met. They describe their years of hardship in refugee camps before being resettled here. It is exciting to hear their stories and experiences. Support them if you can. Help out where you can. We are all just passing through this world… let us help others along the way. Be that blessing. Pass it on through ALL He has taught you about love and grace!
