Paul knew the people and what was pulling them back into sin and away from God. That is why he continues to encourage them to think and to act in ways that are pleasing the Holy Spirit. It is how we are to live our lives to follow what Christ taught us to do and to be. If we are focused on the message of Christ, we will not have time, interest, or energy to spend on things that are temporary and worldly. Set you thoughts on Him and let your actions show His love toward others.
Copy this blog post or the link to this page to give this verse to dear friends and family members. Ask if they get tempted or distracted by desires of this world. Ask what they do to refocus their thinking towards what Jesus taught us. Listen carefully to their responses. Let them know what helps you in such times. We all need to support each other and hold each other accountable in our Christian walk day-by-day. Then, Take Time For God’s Word(c) at 5:16 am or pm or as you sense temptations for desires of things around you, then think about this verse. Another great 5:16 verse is from 1 Thessalonians which says, “Rejoice always.” It is a great reminder at this time of year and at any time. So, one time event (e.g. 5:16) can help you to recall several verses to encourage and support you in your walk of faith. Make it a goal in 2019 to add a few more verses to your memory banks… it is an investment that has eternal value.
Our monthly prayer cycle continues with prayers of support and guidance for our youth outreach missions and ministries. As I was entering a local grocery store, there were a group of youths doing a fund raiser for a summer mission trip. I asked about it and they told me with great excitement what they were planning to do and who they were planning to help. I gladly gave them a donation. It is great to see such enthusiasm and expectation in what they can do in Jesus name to help others. What a blessing they will be. What great memories they will have. What a terrific faith-lift they will receive. Support those in your local area. Be that blessing. Pass it on by staying focused on His plans for you and by sharing His blessings with those you touch each day.
