Don’t let the wicked win!…

27:22 Matthew “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!” “ (NIV)

Pilate was the Roman ruler at the time of Christ. He understood the politics of the religious leaders. He gave the people a choice… Jesus or Barabbas. They picked the criminal rather than the one who healed them, fed them, taught them, and helped them. How about you? Have you ever made bad choices out of convenience or because others where doing those same things? It was the vote of the people that helped convince Pilate to have Jesus crucified. Barabbas went free that day but we don’t know if he had a change of heart because of it. We too are set free and we get a whole new life because Jesus gave His life for us!

You can copy this link or this blog to pass along this verse to family and friends. Ask if they recall who was set free instead of Jesus (i.e. Barabbas). Ask if they hear about Barabbas later (i.e. no mention except he was released). Let them know that we also often choose things or people other than Jesus. Yet, His death cleansed us from all sins. We gain freedom from sin because of Him! Continue to Take Time For God’s Word daily and remember 27:22 as a reminder that the people called for Jesus to be crucified. That choice which was done in anger and with malice from the Pharisees proved to be remarkable as it fulfilled the prophet’s words and God’s plan for salvation. When you see a cross, recall the shouts of the people. Recall their choice of evil over good. Remember to thank Him for that great sacrifice. It truly made all the difference in the world… and it still does!

Our daily prayers now focus on our pastors, ministers, and lay leaders who uplift and guide our churches and fellowship groups. They have so many roles in serving most congregations. They have so many needs that require attention and their prayerful support. Tell them that you appreciate their work and their ministry to you. Offer to help where you can. Surround them in prayer. Encourage their efforts. Be a blessing among your friends. Pass it on through choices for good and not for evil!
