Is your spirit willing?

26:41 Matthew “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.“ (NIV)

Jesus is deep in prayers to God. The disciples are sleeping. Jesus awakens them and encourages them to be in prayer with Him. He knows their weakness. He sees their tiredness. He knows when we are tired and weak that we are more susceptible to temptations that will lead us into sin. That is why He encourages us to remain constant in prayer so that we keep our thoughts and focus on Him. Then we are not distracted by the temptations which seem to be awaiting on all sides. Let your spirit and flesh remain strong in Him!!

Ask if they feel that when they are tired that they lose their willpower and give in to temptations. Ask if they found anything that will help them to remain strong at those times. Let them know about the disciples and how they failed to respond to Jesus need for prayers. Let them know that God is there for them in times of weakness or temptation. They can turn to Him anytime. Always Take Time For God’s Word each day and recall 26:41 when you feel weak or tempted, then think about this verse. You may want to print out this verse card. We end each monthly prayer cycle by focusing our prayers on that one person whom you know needs the love of Jesus in their lives. Lift them up to Jesus today. Ask for His help in reaching them. Ask that they may see His love working though you. Ask that someone will touch their hearts to turn to Jesus. We need that intense concentrated prayers on them. We do not want them to miss out on heaven. Be that great blessing to them. They will be eternally grateful that you persisted in faith and prayers for them. Pass it on!
