Don’t let riches fool you!…

19:23 Matthew “Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.” “ (NIV)

The rich young man (verse 19:22) left Jesus very sad because he had great wealth. Jesus advises His disciples that for many people, their riches become their god. They depend on it. They think it can save them. Yet, it cannot! It is not the money that is bad but it is the love of money which gets people into trouble. We are called to be generous in our love for others which includes being generous with our money to help support others wherever possible. Who knew that being poor would be such a blessing… as money is not what we depend upon. Be blessed and be a great blessing!

We offer up prayers for Christian led causes throughout the US and around the world. Lutheran World Relief (lwr.org, Baltimore, MD) is one such organization that makes a huge difference in the name of Christ ‘around the world to end poverty, injustice, and human suffering’. You may know of other organizations that have similar missions. Do what you can to support them. We may never know the impact of our gifts yet we trust that many more will know of grace of Jesus through such loving acts of compassion and kindness. Stay blessed. Pass it on through the gifts you give and the support that you give to those sharing the love of Christ!
