What holds you back from Jesus?…

19:21 Matthew “Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (NIV)

A rich young man asks Jesus what He must do to inherit eternal life. Great question. He thought he knew the response… keep the commandments…’love your neighbor as yourself’… and he had kept those. Then Jesus asks just one-more-thing… it was the thing that still held onto this rich young man’s heart. He was to get rid of all of his possessions. No small ask but it was the stumbling block for this young man. He realized that he could not do that. His possessions were keeping him from following Jesus. Be prepared to give Him your all and you will receive even more in return. Follow Him!

Copy this blog or the link to it and pass along this verse to your family, friends, and co-workers for the kingdom. Ask what is one thing that seems to be tripping them up in their daily walk with Jesus. Ask if Jesus told them to sacrifice it, could they do it? We are all asked to make sacrifices but they are nothing compared to His great love for us. Keep your priorities in the proper order and seek Him first each day. Then Take Time For God’s Word at 19:21 (7:21 pm) and as you see a rich person, then recall the challenge in this verse. You may want to set this as a Reminder on your phone at 7:21 pm with the title ‘19:21 Matthew …then come, follow me.’ It may make you a bit uncomfortable. It may give you pause. Could you give it ALL up for Him? You may be asked to do that at some time. Know in your heart that whatever He asks of you, that you will do it. Keep growing in faith each day.

Please extend your prayers for all of our elected officials and government leaders at all levels. THEY NEED OUR PRAYERS in order to make the best decisions for us as a people and as a country. God has greatly blessed this country. We need to find ways to work together in cooperation to make it better for all of us. Be a blessing in all that you do. Pass it on with the love of Christ and with His grace and mercy where there is conflict or disagreements.
