Watch what you say…really!

15:11 Matthew “What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” (NIV)

Jesus states clearly that the food or how it was eaten isn’t the thing that defiles a person. What defiles someone is the words which they use as those come from the heart and show their true intentions. That is why Jesus focuses on keeping our hearts pure and close to Him. Then we will use words which show His love and care for those around us. We need to make sure that our words reflect what He means to us. Speak of grace and mercy!

Copy this link or the whole blog to give this verse to friends and family. Ask if they have ever said something and wish they could take back every word. Ask how that made them feel afterwards. Let them know that you are trying to speak kind and loving words. Tell them that is what you have a heart to do. Share the love of Christ with them to show why it is so important to you. Next, Take Time For God’s Word at 15:11 (3:11 pm) and as you speak words of love, then recall this verse. So, recall that what goes into your mouth is not typically the problem. It is what comes out of our mouths that most often gets us into trouble. Be mindful of that. Don’t speak out in anger. Don’t speak out when feeling hurt by others. Ask God to temper your words with His love and forgiveness. May they hear of God’s love and grace through you.

We continue our prayers for all of the Sunday School teachers and helpers. While some may be taking a brief break during the summer months, many churches have Sunday School all year long. It takes great commitment to share in this way. Preparations, prayer, setup, etc. take far longer than the brief time actually during the Sunday School period each week. What a blessing they are to children and adults alike. Thank them for that time and effort. Support them. Volunteer if that is in your heart to do so. There will be people in heaven because of those faithful witnesses. Pass it on using the many gifts that God has given to you to share with others!
