Rest for the weary soul…

11:28 Matthew “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (NIV)

What a great invitation! Offering people a place of rest. Offering people a chance to get rid of their burdens. Offering the weary a time and a place to get nourished again. It is an offer that many have accepted. It is an offer for anyone and everyone to take up, if they will just reach out to Jesus. He removes the heavy burden of sin. His Word enriches and empowers us to get up and to keep moving forward. Find your rest in Him every day!

You can share this verse with your friends on social media and on your email lists by sending a link to them. Ask if they have a favorite place to be refreshed and restored. Ask what makes it so special to them and why it works for them. Listen carefully to how they respond. Let them know how knowing Jesus gives you a place of rest… real rest. Tell them that He can remove the burden of sin which may be making them weary and tired spiritually. Pray with them and for them. Tell them so. Take Time For God’s Word at 11:28 am or pm as you become weary and tired, then recall this verse. If you have read my book “Take Time For God’s Word” (available on Amazon.com), you may know that this is a featured verse. I encourage everyone to know this verse. While I do think of it in the morning, I always think of it at night. It is one of the last verses that I recall before I get to my ‘Amen’ at the end of each day. Use this to turn over your burdens and sins to the loving hands of Jesus every night. You will rest better knowing that you are in His love and care every night. Try it!

As we approach summer, let us not forget to pray for and support our local food pantries and soup kitchens. Hunger doesn’t take a break. For some kids, when school ends, so do some of the supporting food options which they receive. So, summer months become even more critical to many families. Take a day to pitch in. It will open your eyes to levels of need in your neighborhoods that you never knew existed. It will open your hearts as well. Be that blessing. Drop off some cereal or canned goods. You will be an answered pray to many people, I am sure! Pass it on by these acts of love and caring for those in great need. THANK YOU!!

NOTE: I have just returned from an extended trip in Europe so I apologize for the gap in Blog posts. You can see them also as Facebook posts at www.facebook.com/taketimeforgodsword/ to keep you up-to-date. Stay well. Stay blessed. Pass it on!
