Do unto others…really, do it!

7:12 Matthew “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” (NIV)

“Do unto others as you would have them do to you,…” It is often one of the early lessons we teach our children. It is generally repeated in many religions. The problem comes in trying to actually live it out each day. Good intentions don’t cut it. It must be shown by your actions. It must be given without expectations. It often comes with a sacrifice. That is why it is so hard for most people. You need the help of God to make this work in your life. You need to accept the power of Christ to have Him work in and through you. Then it works…great!!

You can help others by copying this blog or this link and then you can send it on to all of your contacts across ALL of your social media accounts. Ask if they learned this rule as a child. Ask if they think of it often and if they follow it every day. Share with them how it is the love of Christ which compels you to put this into practice. You work at it every day. Remind them to Take Time For God’s Word at 7:12 am or pm and as you see anything of a ‘gold’ color, then recall this verse as the ‘golden rule’. You likely know this verse and the ‘golden rule’ words. The challenge is to think of it often and then to follow those words by putting them into action in our lives. That’s the hard part. One translation says “Do for others…” (GNT) I like that. Reminding me to do for others. It is positive. It is proactive. It is something that I want to do… doing good for others. Try that today and see how golden your day becomes.

With our verse for today, it is most appropriate that we pray for all of the food banks and soup kitchens around the country. We may think that with low unemployment and improving economic conditions that the needs are less but that is not true. There are still GREAT needs. There are people in some desperate situations. They need help. They need it daily. They can’t survive without it. Give if you can. Volunteer as you are able. Help out those in great need. THANK YOU! Be blessed for it. Pass it on by being an example of the golden rule and living proof that Christ lives in you!
