Forgiveness for our debts!

6:12 Matthew “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” (NIV)

Debts…sins…trespasses. We use these words to show that we are to follow Christ’s example of forgiveness when it comes to what others may owe to us. Do you forgive as freely as He forgives you? That is what we are called to do. It can be hard at times. We feel hurt. We feel distrustful. We would like for them to pay for what they did. Yet, we KNOW that Christ died for us while we were still sinful. We could NEVER pay the debt that we owed for all of our sins. He took them all upon himself. Our debt was paid in full! Live that way as you forgive others as well!

Copy this blog or send a link to this post to give this verse to your friends on social media or on email. Ask if they ever wondered what it would be like to be totally debt-free. Ask if they feel that others owe them something or that they need to forgive something. Find out how that makes them feel. Ask if they feel that they owe anything to God as well. Some people don’t acknowledge their sins and therefore don’t see that they need God. Remind them that we ALL have sinned and need that forgiveness. Next, Take Time For God’s Word at 6:12 am or pm and as you take our a credit card or checkbook, then recall this verse and the debts we owe. You may want to add this to your Reminders for the 1st or 15th of the month as you pay bills. We would not think to miss a payment there. So, why do we fail to forgive others or to seek forgiveness from God for our debts of sin. Don’t wait. A great burden is lifted when you live debt free…from sin!

We pray for all of the all of the Christian preschools and day schools throughout our country. What a blessing it is to have such a heritage of Christian schools educating and enabling our youth to learn about Jesus along with their other educational subjects. We need to protect and preserve such freedoms. We need to support them. We need to encourage them in all that they do. Cheer them on in your church or fellowship group. Be a blessing to them. Pass it on to the generations to come!
