How do you pray?

6:08 Matthew “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (NIV)

In the prior verses, Jesus reminds us that we are not to say lots of words like some pagan religions do. God wants to hear the desires and needs from our heart. He wants that 1-on-1 time with us. He hears our words and he hears the unspoken needs that we sometimes can’t even describe. Our prayers show our trust in Him. Our prayers show our need for Him. Our prayers show our love for others. “Pray continually.” (5:17 in 1 Thessalonians). Let your last words each night be ‘Amen’ to end your prayer for that day.

Be a great friend as you forward the blog or the link to this verse to your close friends and family. Ask if they pray at specific times or in specific places. Ask if they have a prayer list of people or things that they are praying for. Encourage them to keep a prayer journal to give focus to their prayers. Share with them key people or issues that you are praying for. Pray with and for each other. What great blessings we have through prayer. Then Take Time For God’s Word at 6:08 am or pm and when you stop to offer meal-time prayers, then remember this verse. You may want to print out this verse card so that you can use it as a bookmark. Whenever you pick up the Bible or the book you may be reading, this verse will remind you about praying. Thank God in your prayers. He has done marvelous things for us and the best is yet to come! WOW!!

Pray for specific missionaries that you may know by name. Offer prayers for safety, impact on others, health, new believers, and so much more. You could even type out your prayer and then send it to them in an email or in a letter. They will be encouraged and blessed to know that you are praying for them. Support them. Support their families. Stay blessed by sharing your blessings broadly. Pass it on through simple prayers and by giving Him your thanks!
