If Satan says ‘jump’…don’t!

4:07 Matthew “Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" (NIV)

In the second temptation of Jesus by Satan, even Satan quotes scriptures in ways trying to deceive Jesus. Jesus knows this and reminds Satan (and us) that we are not to do dumb things just to test God’s power. That’s the temptation…letting our free will do things which we know are wrong but imagining that God will stop the consequences of those actions. There will be consequences. There will be pain. There will be suffering. We know better. Ask God to give us the will power to resist those temptations which will cause us great harm!

Continue to pass on these verses or the link to this blog to all of your family, friends, and co-workers in faith. Ask they feel tempted to put God to the test. Ask if they believe that there will not be consequences to such actions. Remind them of the love of God and the guidance He gives us to avoid temptations and sin. Pray with and for these friends. We need to be praying for each other. Satan is the great deceiver. Do not fall into his traps. Remember to Take Time For God’s Word at 4:07 am or pm and as you sense a temptation, then recall this verse and pray for guidance. This may be a verse card that you save on your Favorites album on your phone. We are tempted often. We need to be constantly aware. We need to have scriptures ready as we resist those temptations. Know that God is with you. Know that you will not be tempted beyond what you are able to resist. Stay focused on God’s love and plans for you!

We continue to remember all of those victims of multiple recent natural disasters like hurricanes Irma, Maria, and other fires and weather related disasters around our country. They are no longer in the headlines but their effects and impacts are still being felt. Only now are some people regaining electricity to their homes and businesses. They need our ongoing prayers. They need our ongoing support. Help where you are able. Be an answer to their prayers. Pass it on through your generous acts of love and ongoing examples of kindness to others.
