Try the Bread of Life…God’s Word

4:04 Matthew “Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (NIV)

Matthew chapter 4 talks about Jesus being tempted by Satan while Jesus was fasting and praying in the wilderness. Satan often tempts us when we are at our weakest point…spiritual weakness… physical weakness… emotional weakness… financial weakness… you see the pattern. Jesus responded to each temptation by quoting scriptures which showed how Satan was trying to trick Him. Jesus repeated the truths which He had learned. Satan could not tempt Jesus. We too need to be ready for the temptations which may come our way. We need to bring to mind God’s Word to remind us of ALL that He has done and will do for us. We need to trust God more than the temptation of sin!

You may want to send this reminder on to friends and family on your email list...it is that important! Ask they feel that they are tempted at their weakest moments. Ask what they do to avoid or resist those temptations. Let them know what you do when you are tempted. We try to resist. Sometimes we fail. Yet, we have been forgiven by God and we can claim that forgiveness through the blood of Christ. Be grateful for that sacrifice. Always Take Time For God’s Word at 4:04 am or pm and as you see a piece of bread, then remember this verse and resisting temptation. You may want to print this and pack it with your lunch (or take it out at lunchtime). Thinking this verse while seeing bread AND while being tempted with other foods will be a great reminder of other temptations. We need to quickly turn to God’s Word and away from the temptation(s). He will deliver you!

Our prayers go out to all of our seminaries and places which are training up the next generations of ministers, pastors, and church leaders. Based on the problems on the evening news every night, we are going to need A LOT more ministers. Our world desperately needs the message of the Cross. It needs the love of Christ. It needs strong moral direction and the ability to resist temptations. It needs it NOW! Support those institutions. Encourage young people to consider going into the ministry. Stay blessed in all you do. Pass it on through resisting temptation and following God’s Word and plans for you!
