Whatever you do…do your best

3:23 Colossians “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,” (NIV)

“Do your best.” These were usually the last words that I would hear from my mother each day as I left the house for school as a child. Still good advice even today. God gave us His very best by sending His Son, Jesus, to die in our place. We need to then give our best when we are going about the activities of each day…family time, work, recreation, worship, etc. The only caution is that we not let any or all of these other activities keep us too busy to have time for God. That can happen. Maintain a balance but ALWAYS keep time available for God. It is the best time you will spend each day!

Give this verse to all of the friends on your email list. Ask if they are able to give their best efforts each day at work (or other activities). If not, ask what is keeping them from doing that. Let them know what you do to try to put your best efforts into everything you do. Tell them about what God did through Christ for them. Share why that makes a difference for you and why it can make a difference for them. Please Take Time For God’s Word at 3:23 am or pm and as you feel that you are working at your best today, then think about this verse. You may want to save this verse as a Reminder on your phone at 3:23 pm with the title, “do it with all your heart”. Or, you could make this another ‘whatever’ verse so that when you hear the word ‘Whatever’ then you can think about several verses which start with the word ‘whatever’… (like 3:17 and 3:23 of Colossians). Continue to do your best and God will use it to His glory.

We pray for all of the pastors, ministers, and lay leaders in our churches and fellowship groups. We know that they are putting their hearts and souls into their ministry to us. We know how hard that can be. We know that many of them are stretched thin and work long hours trying to be their for the needs of their congregation. Support them. Encourage them. Help their families if needed. We are the body of Christ and we need to care for all parts of it. Stay blessed to be a blessing to them. Pass it on by acts of loving service and daily acts of kindness.
