Jesus tells the disciples that the day-to-day struggles will be too much for many people. Their hearts will grow cold and their love will fade away. Yet, those who are willing to persist and stand firm in the faith will be rewarded in the end. They will see the Lord’s salvation. That’s us! We want to encourage others to be firm in their hope and to be persistent in faith and especially in prayer. Reach out to others and help them strengthen their faith today… and always!
Jesus commented on the temple in Jerusalem and its coming destruction. The disciples wanted to know more about the end times and what to watch for. Jesus starts by sharing this verse. We have heard many doomsday dates come and go. We are still here! We need to be trusting in God’s plans and promises for us. We need to test those making great claims to see where they are getting their insights. Stay close to His Word. Then you will be close to the truth always!
Jesus shares other warnings to the disciples about the Pharisees and those who seek personal honor, praise, and recognition. They seek the thanks, praise, and glory that should be given to God. Jesus reminds them of who they are and whose disciples they are. We should also take note. He re-emphasizes what He has stated before. It is just that crucial to them. He will later demonstrate it by washing their feet. He shows them what being a servant truly means. We should follow His example!
