40:05 Isaiah “Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The LORD has spoken!” (NLT)
Isaiah tells of a time when mountains will be leveled and valleys raised up… a time when the rough places will be made smooth. Then we will see the ‘glory of the Lord’. As we approach the time of Christmas, we will again hear the songs and read the words about the coming of Christ. Yet, we know that He also comes to live in our hearts and our lives each day. We get to experience that always… and forever!
40:03 Isaiah “A voice of one calling: "In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” (NLT) 32:18 Isaiah “My people will live in safety, quietly at home. They will be at rest.” (NLT)
In the predictions of hard times and persecution, Isaiah also gives a glimpse of the days ahead when there will again be peace and safety. Most of us feel pretty safe most of the time. What a blessing that is. So many do not live in that way. They live in fear each day. There is still more that we need to do for them. Continue the work of the Lord… until He comes again!
